Movies Near-Death. Resurrection starring Ellen Burstyn and Sam Shepard is the first Hollywood movie of its kind to follow Dr. Raymond Moody’s theory of near death experiences. It is the story of a woman who survives near death after an accident with the ability to heal others. The religious fanatics from this town disapprove of her new found ability which sparks a modern day witch hunt and tests the NDE survivor’s strength to continue healing others in spite of strong adversity.

Saved by the Light starring Eric Roberts is the story of Dannion Brinkley, a near death experience survivor. During his NDE, after suffering severe electric shock, he was shown his future. Brinkley, who did not live a model life prior to his NDE, changed the way he lived and turned very spiritual.

It’s a Wonderful Life starring James Stewart and Donna Reed is the story of a man, while attempting to take his own life, encounters a guardian angel. The angel assists the man during his NDE and through a review of his life. During his life review, the man had the realization that his misery resonated from his lack of love and trust for the people around him. The NDE thereby helped him make profound changes which would fulfill his destiny in life.

A movie which includes all the aspects of the NDE is Quiet Earth starring Bruno Lawrence and Alison Rutledge. This story is about three people who survived an experiment which caused all others to perish into another dimension. The three survived because they had gone through NDE at the same time the experiment failed.

These are major aspects of the near death experience in which some or all are present in most NDE’s:

1. hearing sounds such as buzzing
2. a feeling of peace and painlessness
3. having an out-of-body experience
4. a feeling of traveling through a tunnel
5. a feeling of rising into the heavens
6. seeing people, often dead relatives
7. meeting a spiritual being such as God
8. seeing a review of one's life
9. feeling a reluctance to return to life.
