Melissa Mccarthy saturday night live
Melissa Mccarthy saturday night live, The regular cast members of Saturday Night Live better be spending this lazy Sunday counting their lucky stars Melissa McCarthy has a full-time gig that earns her all sorts of shiny prizes. Because here’s the thing: not only was McCarthy a good, funny host, if she were a regular cast member of the series, she’d have all the recurring characters.McCarthy jumped into her hosting role with such gusto, such fearlessness, that just like her role in Bridesmaids, she owned every moment she was on screen. In fact, she was so open and hilarious, that not only did she elevate sketches that should not have been particularly funny, the sketches that she wasn’t in, even if they were a little funny (like these Lil Poundcake and Chris Rock commercials), seemed to lack something, a certain McCarthyesque goofiness that made them feel flat in comparison. For the cold open, Saturday Night Live returned to an old standby, The Lawrence Welk Show spoof. Melissa McCarthy played a heretofore never-seen Merrill sister, a bemuscled, beaver-toothed freak companion to Kristen Wiig’s baby-handed, Dooneese. It was fine. But a few things: 1. I’m growing very, very weary of Dooneese. 2. Taran Killam is no Will Ferrell. Quit doing a Will Ferrell impersonation, Taran Killam, you are not Will Ferrell. 3. Why is this the only sketch Kristen Wiig had any real presence in? Where’s Kristen Wiig? FREE KRISTEN WIIG!!
