Sheryl Crow Diner, Sheryl Crow is following in the footsteps of rock band U2, as the singer is set to pen the lyrics and music for a new Broadway musical based on the 1982 film "Diner," a report says.
Crow, known for songs such as "All I Wanna Do" and "Every Day is a Winding Road," has not commented publicly.
The New York Times quoted her as saying that the film's director and screenwriter, Barry Levinson, approached her about the project, which would mark her first Broadway production.
"I was already a huge fan of 'Diner' when Barry first approached me about writing a score for a theatrical retelling of his film," Crow told the newspaper. "I knew exactly who these men and women were and I feverishly began writing."
The movie "Diner" is set in 1959 and tells of a group of college friends struggling with adulthood. The film stars Steve Guttenberg, Mickey Rourke, Kevin Bacon, Paul Reiser and Daniel Stern, who narrates the adult voice of Kevin Arnold in the 1980s series "The Wonder Years" and played Marv, part of the "Wet"-turned-"Sticky" bandits in the first two "Home Alone" films in the 1990s.
U2 members Bono and the Edge penned the music and lyrics for "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark," which is the most expensive Broadway musical. The show made headlines due to its series of technical problems and botched stunts that resulted in injuries. Its main star, Reeve Carney, is set to portray singer Jeff Buckley in an upcoming biopic.
