Stage collapses at Ind. concert, 4 killed
A powerful storm collapsed an Indianapolis stage where fans were awaiting the band Sugarland. Four people died and another 40 were injured.
INDIANAPOLIS—Authorities in Indiana have identified the five people who were killed when a blast of wind toppled a stage and its rigging before a Sugarland concert at the Indiana State Fair.Indiana State Police 1st Sgt. David Bursten said Sunday that four people died Saturday when the collapse happened and a fifth person died overnight at a hospital.
The Marion County Coroner's office identifies the victims as 23-year-old Alina Bigjohny of Fort Wayne, 29-year-old Christina Santiago of Chicago, and three Indianapolis residents: 42-year-old Tammy Vandam, 49-year-old Glenn Goodrich and 51-year-old Nathan Byrd. It was Byrd who died overnight.
The fair was closed Sunday.
