Liam Gallagher 'drops lawsuit'
Liam Gallagher 'drops lawsuit'. Liam Gallagher has reportedly dropped legal action against his estranged brother Noel after the rocker apologised for remarks he made about why his sibling pulled out of an OASIS gig in 2009.Liam announced plans to sue his ex-bandmate for libel on Friday (19Aug11), insisting Noel was lying when he told reporters that the singer pulled out of V Festival because he had a hangover.Rather than slam his sibling's action, Noel played peacemaker during a webchat with fans on Monday (22Aug11) and confirmed the band axed the show because Liam had laryngitis, the reason given at the time.
He also added that their feud was "getting very silly and a little bit out of hand".
Now Liam has instructed his lawyers to scrap the suit after hearing his brother's comments and seeing how upset their mother was over the drama, reports The Sun.
A source tells the newspaper, "Liam had spoken to his mum Peggy and she was upset by the whole episode.
"That was playing on his mind then he had a moment of realisation that Noel wasn't being vindictive - he was just being cheeky. It was an anger that had built up over two years because he was so angry Oasis was over.
"In the cold light of day he realised his brother was actually being quite calm about it all, and decided a legal battle was a bad idea. Hopefully that will draw a line under it all and everyone can move on."
